[Video] Man remanded in jail for raping daughter, attempts suicide in court

A 38-year-old man who was remanded in jail for keeping his daughter as a sex slave, attempts suicide in court.

One Ibinabo Franklin has been remanded in prison for keeping his 17-year-old daughter as his sex slave in Port Harcourt.

The Magistrate Court presided over by Chief Magistrate F.N Amanze heard the 38-year-old confess to chaining his daughter, before raping her and left her bleeding.

Appealing to the court to tamper justice with mercy, Franklin said he did not understand what came over him at the time.

Surprisingly, the accused who was dissatisfied with the ruling went on to cause some drama in the court afterwards.

Franklin attempted to commit suicide right there in the court, breaking tiles and bottles on his head and stabbing himself with the sharp edges.

Fortunately, his handcuffed hands restricted the level of damage he could inflict on himself even as Prisons armed squad and able-bodied youths present in court managed to subdue him.

Franklin who was already bleeding from his injuries was taken away and the matter adjourned to December 23 for mention while the judge recommended that the teenager be admitted to psychological rehabilitation.
