Yaya Toure disputes Iheanacho’s goal

Manchester City striker Yaya Toure is laying claim to the goal, which secured a win against Swansea last Saturday.

Toure’s stoppage time effort bounced off the back of Kelechi Iheanacho into the net. Toure argued that the ball was heading straight into the net, and the deflection from Iheancho was immaterial. Majority of Manchester City fans back his claim for the goal.

“When you see the action, the ball was going into the net.
“When you shoot on target I think it is your goal because the intention was to score so can we do?
“We’ll see what the verdict is but as far as I’m concerned, it’s mine,” he told the club’s official website, www.mcfc.co.uk.
City fans also agree with Toure as 60 per cent of them who took part in an online poll conducted by the club’s website voted that the goal be credited to him.  Forty per cent of the 10,120 fans who voted however disagreed, insisting that the goal be credited to Iheanacho.
