Man Utd & Arsenal's January transfer Window Plans
Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal and his Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger have let slip on their plans in the January transfer window.
Both managers were speaking in the post match conferences in the FA Cup.
Manchester United defeated Sheffield Wednesday 1 – 0 thanks to Wayne Rooney’s 90th minute penalty while Arsenal came from behind to defeat Sunderland 3 – 1 with Joel Campbell, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud finding themselves on the score sheet.
Wenger said January transfer window plan is to sign just one player; Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny whose arrival is imminent.
He said: “I believe that the next step is to get [Tomas] Rosicky back, [Danny] Welbeck back, [Alexis] Sanchez back, [Jack] Wilshere back and maybe we will get one player in [Elneny].”
Meanwhile Manchester United boss, Louis Van Gaal has suggested he would not be conducting any business in the January transfer window.
Van Gaal says he needs creative players but it would be difficult to sign anyone.
He said: “I don’t think we shall do business in January.
“You cannot say that [for certain] because when there is a chance to make the selection better, then we shall do it. [But] I don’t think that we shall do that.
“I have said also in transfer period that we need creative players, with speed. And we don’t have that too much.
“[Juan] Mata is playing on the right side and is doing fantastically. He has always a big contribution for our team. But he is not a right winger in the profile that I have.
“It’s not so easy to chase players who are better than Mata.”
