Teacher Imprisoned For 2 Years For Having Sex With Student
A teaching assistant who had repeatedly sex with a 15-year-old student was imprisoned for two years.
Caroline Berriman, 30, groomed an unnamed teenage pupil twice her age and slept with him up to 80 occasions over three to four months.
Their story started wih flirt on Facebook and lewd text messages that grew into strong sexual relationship that ended only when she became pregnant and had an abortion.
At one point, the boy lived with the mother-of-onefor some time but when the situation worsenes, he called ChildLine saying her wanted to commit suicide.
The boy later described his ex-lover as manupilative who asked him to run away with her, saying that if he refused it would ‘break her daughter’s heart.

Giving details of their relationship the boy said: “She said that I had to keep it secret because if anybody found out she would lose her family, she’d lose her daughter and she’d get into serious trouble. Now I can’t look at a girl anymore or be in the same room as a woman on my own. My confidence is just broken, I used to be confident and have girlfriends, and I’m now just shattered.”
Berriman, who pleaded guilty, was given a two-year suspended sentence and 250 hours of unpaid community work in September this year.
However, the Court of Appeal found the suspended sentence too lenient and replaced with an immediate two-year jail term. The boy has now left the school.
