Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has emerged 3rd during this year‟s National Mathematics Competition, which took place from 3rd to 9th April, 2016. This was disclosed by the Head of Mathematics Department, Dr. Bashir Ali.
A letter with reference number BUK/SCI/MTH/NMC/020, dated, 4th May, 2016 noted that the competition, which was organised by the National Mathematics Centre, Abuja, was an annual event being participated by students across Nigerian Universities.
According to the statement, Federal University of Technology, Akure became first while University of Ilorin and University of Uyo jointly emerged second out of the 24 universities that participated in the competition.
The statement added that the Bayero University team consisted of Dahiru Abdurrahman- SCI/12/MTH/00002, who got a Gold Medal and took third position out of 96 participants while Sahura Badamasi Muhammad- SCI/12/MTH/00027 and A‟isha Ibrahim Sulaiman-SCI/12/MTH/00126 bagged a Silver Medal each after emerging 9th and 27th, respectively.
Also, Ibrahim Abdulfatah-SCI/12/MTH/00002 bagged a Bronze Medal after he emerged 38th in the competition. The leader of the team, according to the statement, was Dr. Ma‟aruf S. Minjibir.
