Suspected rebels have been reported to have killed at least 30 civilians in northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) late on Saturday.
Rebels from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a Ugandan Islamist militia that has operated in eastern Congo since the 1990s, attacked the village of Rwangoma, about 5 km south of the commercial hub of Beni around 7 p.m. local time, said local army spokesman Mak Hazukay.
This attack is said to mark the deadliest massacre in the DRC this year.
ADF hasn’t yet made any comment concerning the attack.
