While Speaking in Katsina state, the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier Sule Kazaure, told participants at the training organised for NYSC staff in Nigeria that all logistics for the project are ready.

Kazaure stated that since the inception of the project, it has affected only corps members serving in Abuja and Lagos State.

However, following the positive results, the commission has decided to extend the process to other states of the federation.

The NYSC boss, who was represented by the Director of Planning and Statistics, Chief Anthony Ani, said:

“The introduction of biometric verification of Corps members which took off in Lagos and FCT as pilot has greatly improved the efficiency of Corps members hence the need to extend the process to other states of the federation.

“In 2014, the scheme made the giant leap from the manual system of mobilization, deployment, registration and relocation of corps member to the current ICT-based system.

“The idea is to ensure efficiency and effective management of our operations in line with current technological trends.

“Since its commencement, the initiative has not only proved its efficacy but it has also helped in stemming the tide of unwholesome practices by some stakeholders.”
During the biometric verification, the fingerprint is the pass to mark monthly attendance. This process is aimed at stemming the tide of ‘ghost’ practices among corps members.
