The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, in Nasarawa State, yesterday, disclosed that two students died in separate accidents in the state during the week.
The Assistant Corps Commandant, Keffi Unit Command, Abdulatef Awodi, who disclosed this in Keffi, said one of the victims, a 400 level student of Accounting of the Nasarawa State University, was killed by a truck.
He said the other, a lady from Keffi town, was crushed to death by a vehicle.
According to Awodi, “within the last two days, two ladies have been crushed to death by vehicles in Keffi.
“One of the victims was a 400 level female Accounting student of the state university that was crushed to death by a tipper lorry.
“Another lady was also crushed to death by another vehicle. If these drivers maintain low speed limit even if the accident will occur, the injuries will be less.”
He blamed the high rate of road accidents in the area and the state to speed and reckless driving. He, therefore, urged motorists to avoidspeeding in the interest of their lives and other road users.
Awodi said: “We will not relent in our efforts at advising and sensitising motorists on the need to do the right thing. They should avoid speeding and other distractions to save their lives and that of passengers.”
