Former Italy international Francesco Toldo says Salvatore Sirigu may need to leave Paris Saint-Germain in January if he is to retain his place in the Azzurrisquad for Euro 2016.
Sirigu, 28, will make just his second appearance of the season for PSG when the defending champions host St Etienne in the round of 16 of the Coupe de la Ligue on Wednesday.
Having been the No. 1 at the Ligue 1 leaders for the past four seasons, the ex-Palermo keeper has played only once in the league since Kevin Trapp's arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt this summer.
Le Parisien reports that Roma, Newcastle and Aston Villa are all potential suitors for Sirigu and Toldo told the paper that he could end up being forced into a transfer.
"Only he can answer that," the former Fiorentina keeper said, when asked if Sirigu should request a move. "I don't know the problem well enough to know if he's happy.
"But one thing is clear -- it seems to me that it would be difficult for him to aim for the European Championship in June if he doesn't play any more at all at PSG.
"Even if he's of very good quality, a national manager can't take the risk of bringing a goalkeeper who practically never players for his club any longer.
"You could get away with half a season without playing, but not a whole one."
Sirigu is currently Italy's second-choice keeper behind Juventus veteran Gianluigi Buffon.
Last week PSG manager Laurent Blanc said he had decided not to play Sirigu in their game against Skakhtar Donetsk.
He said he had left him out so that the player would not be cup tied for the Champions League should he join a new club in January.
PSG promised in the summer that they would allow Sirigu to leave if he felt he was not getting enough game time ahead of Euro 2016.
