Dangote urges Nigerians to trust govt, fulfil responsibilities
Foremost businessman seeks more focus on agric, manufacturing NOT WITHSTANDING the current challenges facing the the country, billionaire President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote has urged Nigerians not to despair but have abiding faith in the ability of the Federal Government to turn the nation’s economy around.
Speaking to a group of businessmen, who visited him in Lagos, Dangote appealed to Nigerians to play their own civic role in the task of changing the fortune of the nation for the better by paying their taxes, as part of their own respective contribution to the growth and development of the country.
Ranked by Forbes magazine as the 67th richest person in the world and the richest in Africa, Dangote appealed to Nigerians to contribute their quota by always doing what is right in area of paying their taxes for the country to record real growth and development, pointing out that what Nigeria is going through is an experience that would guide her to plan for the future.
The Forbes Africa Person of the Year 2014 explained that many investors whose businesses are thriving and doing well at present would have been discouraged if they had looked the nation’s economic indices, which by mere observation might not look good for investments.
He explained that with the oil, our major revenue earner now unreliable, government and other investors should focus more on agriculture and manufacturing as the potent alternative to lifting the economy out of the wood.
The President of the Dangote Group said his company would invest more in Nigeria, create more jobs as he has an unwavering faith in the nation’s economy.
He stated that all his investments would be tailored towards job creation for gainful employment so as to alleviate poverty among the people.
He explained that the economic development of the country rests more on the shoulders of private sector operators while government’s role is to ensure conducive environment is provided.
