American swimmer Ryan Lochte has been handed a 10-month ban from swimming.
Lochte, along with 3 other swimmers, vandalized a gas station and lied about being robbed to Brazilian police during the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
The other 3 swimmers are Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger and James Feigen.
The ban was handed down by the US Olympic Committee, the US Swimming body, and the International Olympic Committee.

All 4 swimmers were handed bans, but Lochte’s suspension is the longest. There are reports that further sanctions will be added.
“I’m taking full responsibility for it because I overexaggerated that story and if I never did that, we wouldn’t be in this mess,” Lochte admitted last month in an interview with Today’s Matt Lauer. “Those guys would never be in Rio. None of this would have happened. It was my immature behavior.”
The ban ends on the 30th of June, 2017, but 12-time gold medalist Lochte is also banned from the the 2017 world swimming championships in Budapest, which begin July 14, 2017.
